The Trans-Atlantic Platform is organizing a special two-day event to discuss the prospects for continued and enhanced cooperation in the funding of impactful, international collaborative research in the social sciences and humanities.

Entitled Towards a New Transatlantic Dialogue in the Social Sciences and Humanities, the workshop will bring together funding agency staff, researchers, European Commission officials, NGO representatives and other stakeholders in discussions of how to align international research funding activities that lead to knowledge that informs policy decisions.

Each day of the workshop is focused on a different aspect of the main theme. Day 1 is devoted to a discussion of best practices in international research funding, and how to align the activities of research funding networks and other stakeholders. Day 2 focuses on the role of social sciences and humanities research in policy making, and how to design international funding opportunities that lead to knowledge that informs policy decisions.
